Happy 86th Birthday Mom (Beulah)

A few weeks ago I decided to bake my Mom a cake to celebrate her 86th birthday.  My only problem was what to bake...after looking at several cake pictures, I finally decided on one.  In Mom's kitchen, you see nothing but apples...everywhere!  So a cake shaped like an apple was only fitting.  Not to brag, but it turned out great.  It is my favorite cake to date.

It is made out of 4 - 9" round cakes layered with buttercream icing and then carved in the shape of an apple and covered with more buttercream icing.
